Anything is possible
What do you desire?
They greet us with smiles and a friendly face,
they walk with knowledge and full of grace,
of listening with an open mind,
ever so helpful, caring and kind.
They are interested in what you have to say,
they ask the right questions to guide your way
they say a goodbye when its time to leave
even listen to some of us who have a pet peeve.
They work harder than most of us do
their goal is someone important and yes its you.
so please take the time to do as I say
thank them with your heart every day.
For it takes a special person who really does care
to make sure we are taken care of is sometimes rare
for those of us that are helped and sometimes in need
need to return the favor and do a good deed.
So take the time and be the first to smile
as a smile can be shared for a very long while
take the time to listen and learn
for we have great librarians whom we are happy to have earned.

I dedicate this poem to all of my teachers who tried to teach me to be more creative. I thank Lisa for telling me about the “I Love AACPL Program”. I thank my mother for being my editor, and I especially thank AACPL for creating this program. This program put me to the challenge to see if I had any creativity. I had fun this summer! Thank you all again!
STRAIGHT FROM MY HEART
I sat in school all broken hearted.
English class had just started.
Our teacher had assigned us to write a poem,
An original one, never spoken.
The teacher continues to teach,
The words that just might reach.
“Here are the rules that you must take.
Follow them and you might Ace!”
What to do now?
I don’t know how.
I never wrote well
Poems that could sell!
The years have past.
Now I see a library contest!
“Create something that shows how you like us!
No grades, but you might get
A terrific gift certificate!”
Here I sit now,
Words flow, I think now I know that,
Teachers who only gave me a start,
Wanted me to write praises to the library
That flow straight from my heart!

We cannot give you cash for your gold,
But we have great service, we’ve been told!
You can check out books, both new and old,
And you will have knowledge to behold!
Thank you AACPL for giving knowledge that is priceless!

Reading, Reading, Reading
Is much more fun than weeding.
Why not set up a meeting
with some friends today
at your local library down the way.

You can plant the seed,
to get young ones to read.
Read to them everywhere.
Even if people stare.
You can read to them on a boat,
While you are afloat.
You can read to them when they have the flu,
and when they are at the zoo.
You can read to them in bed,
after they are fed.
Just make sure you do
And soon they will be doing it too.

I saw a puppet show today.
Hey,
What can I say -
It was a sensation,
And it is showing at other locations.

The years will come,
And the years will go.
One thing I learned,
And now I know,
Through thick or thin,
Right to the end,
The library is like an old friend.

People young and old,
are being told
to take the time
and unwind.
There is a place,
That will put a smile on your face.
You can find books on romance.
Music to make you dance.
Books about how to grow plants.
Books about taking care of your pets,
Even books on paying debts.
In the long run -
you will have fun.
They have everything you can ask for -
and more.
Just come inside their door.
Come now and find out how.

July is almost over.
Don’t shrug your shoulders.
You can still join in
and win.

Honey,
Here’s some money.
Please take the kids out
and about.
Have lots of fun,
Before you are done.
They all came home,
Without a moan.
I thought it was funny,
Because he still had all the money.
They had been in Severna Park
and stayed until dark.
It’s a fact.
They want to go back.
The library was fun
For everyone.

If you want a cheaper vacation.
How about a stay-at-home-cation.
The best shows in town
Can be found
at your library for free.
Come and see.
by Lisa Motel
The kids are running about
Don’t shout.
Take hold,
Don’t explode.
Without a doubt -
It’s time to go out!
There is a place to have fun
for everyone.
There is many things to do and see
and all for free.
At your local library!
Come now
and you will be wowed!
by Lisa Motel
Time is running out.
What is this all about?
Two weeks left to the end
So please send
something in
and maybe you might win.

There are books that rhyme
and you can also find,
Books to teach you how to sign.
There are books about animals,
and some about mammals.
Books on education,
with lots of information.
Books about people,
and even steeples.
Some about bears,
and even yes, hares.
Whatever you are looking for,
The library has it and more.
So go explore!

We were going on vacation, so I had to get a book.
I grabbed the kids and off we went to the library to take a look.
They smiled as we went in and to the kids section they ran to see what they could find,
While I had visions of laying on the beach and reading in my mind.
We all found something that we liked,
And to the checkout counter we hiked.
On the way we saw Mrs Shelly and some of the girl’s friends.
We hope the summer reading program never ends!
They started reading in the car and a little while later they were almost done,
They pleaded and pleaded so next week we’ll go back for more fun!!!
