Ode to AACPL (and Edgar Allen Poe)
By Jessica Brown
Once upon a morning dreary
I was pre-coffee, weak and weary
and I looked over at my children, four.
As I watched them, tackling, chasing,
suddenly, my mind was racing
knowing that I must get them out the door.
“The library!” I thought, “can help me with my children, four.
I’ll take them there, though it may be a chore.”
It was summer, school was finished
but their energy was not diminished.
Those boys of mine needed something more.
At our library, there we found
a reading program, music, sounds,
and dancing to engage my children four.
“So much more than books!” I said as we entered the door.
“And I don’t have to pay like I do at the store!”
And we will come here, evermore.
