They greet us with smiles and a friendly face,
they walk with knowledge and full of grace,
of listening with an open mind,
ever so helpful, caring and kind.
They are interested in what you have to say,
they ask the right questions to guide your way
they say a goodbye when its time to leave
even listen to some of us who have a pet peeve.
They work harder than most of us do
their goal is someone important and yes its you.
so please take the time to do as I say
thank them with your heart every day.
For it takes a special person who really does care
to make sure we are taken care of is sometimes rare
for those of us that are helped and sometimes in need
need to return the favor and do a good deed.
So take the time and be the first to smile
as a smile can be shared for a very long while
take the time to listen and learn
for we have great librarians whom we are happy to have earned.

Our public library is not far away.
We all can learn and play in a comfy place
The librarians are helpful in every way.
We wish to go to the library everyday.

I love the Anne Arundel County Public Library most of all because their wonderful West Street Branch helped me to make the choice to become a school library media specialist.
Growing up as a child I went to the West Street branch and checked out books, bought deleted and donated books and partook of all the wonderful programs and events.
Today not only will begin my 6th year as a media specialist, but I am the new president of the Maryland Association of School Librarians (MASL). I love my library.

We love the library can’t you see,
there is something there for you and me,
a friendly face, a really good book,
so spend some time and take a look.
Can’t find what you are looking for,
scan the shelves and look some more,
still can’t find what you really need,
ask the librarians for help, they will, indeed.
All the books upon the shelf,
the librarians help like Santa’s elfs,
they find the books we really need,
and then they have done their librarian deed.
We checkout with our stacks of books,
we get stares, glares and crazy looks,
how can they read so many at a time,
they will make us wait forever in line.
Librarians chat as we checkout in line,
reminds us to return the books on time,
we said that we would as you can see,
as I can’t afford the library fees!
